The NDIS Quarterly Report for Quarter 1 of 2019 - 2020 highlights that wait times for children to access the Scheme have halved over the quarter, and there has been significant reductions in Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) wait lists with the number of children waiting more than 50 days for a plan reducing from 3,314 to 1,686 over this quarter.

The NDIS also delivered reductions in wait times for first plan approvals and access decisions:

  • As at 30 September 2019, outstanding access decisions had been in progress for an average of 12 days. This compares with 38 days at 30 June 2019.
  • Similar to access decisions, first plans are being approved more quickly after an access decision has been made (88 days on average in September compared to 133 days in June).
