Perth NDIS Understanding Workshops (19, 20, 21 October)

Over three days from 19 October 2016, Perth based staff and volunteer trainers from community information, capacity building, and advocacy organisations who work directly to inform people with disability and their families about the NDIS will be able to build their capacity in a series of half day workshops. The workshops have been progressively rolled out throughout Australian capital cities over the last few months. Make sure you are subscribed to the Disability Loop eNews to stay in the loop.

The NDIS Understanding series are ‘Train the Trainer’ workshops that provide the information and resources organisations need to inform people with disability and families about the NDIS. These are particularly important now that changes to the ‘Participant Pathway’ has changed with the ‘transition to full Scheme’ in July 2016.

There are six (6) half day NDIS Understanding Train the Trainer workshops. The Perth workshops will be held over three days (19-21 October 2016) at the Travelodge Perth

Do I need to pay to attend the workshops?

These workshops are free if your organisation meets the eligibility criteria of the project; that is small community organisations who provide support in the form of information, peer support and advocacy to people with disability and their families. These are typically disability specific organisations, advocacy agencies and unfunded community groups.

If your organisation does not meet the eligibility criteria, you are still more than welcome to attend our workshops. In this case, there is a fee of $250+GST per person per session.

If you are unsure whether you qualify for a free ticket, please do not hesitate to contact Disability Loop at AFDO on (03) 9662 3324, or email disabilityloop@afdo.org.au â€¨

What else do I need to know?

People are welcome to register for some or all of the workshops, however for the free tickets, due to limited places, registration will be limited to one person only per organisation per workshop.

These workshops have been developed in response to feedback that people with disability and families often prefer to get information and training from a trusted local community organisation. Therefore, the workshops focus on the information and resources needed by these organisations to be able to deliver this training locally. This means the workshops are specifically for organisations and not for individuals with disability or family and supporters who are looking to be better informed. Make sure you are subscribed to the Disability Loop eNews where the Direct Training versions of these workshops delivered by the local community organisations will be promoted.

Will food be provided at the event?

Yes. For those attending a session in the morning, morning tea and lunch will be provided. For those attending afternoon sessions, lunch (if you arrive before the start time) and afternoon tea will be provided. For those attending the entire day, morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea will be provided.
