AFDO announces free NDIS workshops for community organisations

The Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO) Disability Loop project is proud to announce that our free NDIS workshops for community organisations are now being rolled out nationally, starting in Melbourne.

NDIS Understanding Workshops

Over three days from 23 May 2016, staff and volunteer trainers from community information, capacity building, and advocacy organisations who work directly to inform people with disability and their families about the NDIS will be able to participate in a series of six ‘train the trainer’ workshops.

The NDIS Understanding train the trainer workshop series gives small community organisations the information and resources needed to better inform and support people with disability and their families about the NDIS. These NDIS Sector Development Fund funded workshops will help organisations learn about the new Participant Pathway and other changes, as the transition to full Scheme commences - ensuring information and training they provide to the community is up-to-date and accurate.

These free workshops will be provided for small community organisations in every capital city in Australia over the next few months, starting in Melbourne. The full schedule of workshops will be available shortly; the final accessibility checks on venues need to be completed first.

Places are limited, so only one representative per workshop from each organisation please.

For more information on the individual workshops and to register, visit the NDIS Understanding Workshops article here.

NDIS Opportunities Workshops

Over two days from 1 June 2016, community organisation CEOs and Board members will be able to participate in a series of four workshops that have been designed especially for community information, capacity building, and advocacy organisations.

The NDIS Opportunities series has been developed to resource and assist small community organisations as they navigate the significant changes that the new market environment brings. These NDIS Sector Development Fund funded workshops have been specifically tailored to the needs of small community organisations, organisations that would appreciate a safe space for thought provoking and sensitive discussions about the opportunities and challenges that they face. Specific, helpful detail is provided to assist with the strategic decisions needed in the ‘new world’.

These free workshops will be provided for small community organisations in every capital city in Australia over the next few months, starting in Melbourne. The full schedule of workshops will be available shortly; the final accessibility checks on venues need to be completed first.

Because of the importance of well-informed discussion, organisations are invited to bring both a senior management representative and a Board member to the workshop.

For more information on the individual workshops and to register, visit the NDIS Opportunities Workshops article here.
